Allison M. Groth joined Groth and Associates in 2008. Finding a passion in helping others, she follows in the footsteps of her late father and esteemed Toledo criminal defense attorney, John Lawrence, and focuses primarily on criminal law (although she always handles client needs across the board).
Allison grew up in Toledo, attending and graduating from local Catholic schools. She is well known in both the legal community and the community at large, with a strong network.
She is licensed in all Ohio courts, and regularly appears in common pleas and municipal courts all over Ohio. Allison is a member of the Toledo Bar Association, the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Maumee Valley Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She regularly appears in Veterans Court and in drug cases on behalf of those battling addiction, which is an area she is very passionate about.
“I can only imagine the fear that comes with being charged with a crime and knowing that you might lose your freedom. But, I try to. I try to put myself in my clients’ shoes. With me as your attorney, you will never feel abandoned. I make it a point to truly listen to my clients’ side of the story, their concerns, and their fears.
In every case I handle, the first thing I do is look for some way to get the charge dismissed or to end up with a not guilty verdict. If that’s not possible, I try to resolve the case in whatever way is most important to my client. If my client’s main concern is not doing jail time, that’s what I aim for. If my client is mostly worried about a particular charge being on their record, I try to get the charge amended to one that they are ok with.
I strive to ensure that my clients are as comfortable as possible at every stage of this scary process. And, I work hard to get my clients the best possible result- no matter how strong the evidence against them may seem.”
